For Shenseea, the partnership offers an opportunity to connect with an even wider African music audience while introducing her Jamaican musical influences to new listeners.
Although the complete recording has not yet been officially released, anticipation is building around how the two artistes will combine their respective musical styles.

The collaboration continues a musical relationship dating back to their 2016 recording “Loodi,” which played an important role in introducing Shenseea to the wider dancehall audience.
American rapper Loe Shimmy also appears on “Private,” bringing a hip-hop influence to the collection.
The combination of Jamaican dancehall, Nigerian Afrobeats and American hip-hop reflects Shenseea’s continued efforts to build a musical identity that reaches beyond traditional genre boundaries.
Dancehall and Afrobeats Continue to Build Global Connections
Over the past decade, Jamaican dancehall and African popular music have developed increasingly visible connections through collaborations, shared musical influences and international performances.
Both genres have contributed significantly to contemporary global music, influencing recording artistes across the Caribbean, Africa, Europe and North America.
Shenseea’s partnership with Asake adds another high-profile collaboration to that relationship.
With both entertainers commanding international audiences, “Playtime” has the potential to introduce their respective fan bases to different musical influences.
